Pakistan wants political solution to Yemen crisis; condemns aggression in IHK: FO

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan has urged the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take proactive measures to resolve the situation in Yemen. Addressing the weekly news briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said Islamabad is in contact with different Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, for early solution to the Yemen crisis. “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia is part of efforts to achieve the objective. Pakistan is encouraged by the Saudi Arabia decision to end airstrikes in Yemen. We hope that this move will lead to stability and commencement of political process,” she said. Tasnim Aslam said Saudi Arabia is a close friend and a true brother which has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times. The FO spokesperson said Pakistan is concerned over atrocities faced by Kashmiris in the Indian Held Kashmir. She said Pakistan condemns Indian aggression and is also concerned at the arrests made during public demonstrations in Srinagar. Regarding Pakistan’s relations with Iran, the spokesperson said both the countries are trying to enhance their political engagements and economic relations. “The two countries are negotiating a number of projects and have adopted new procedures to ensure better border management. Terrorists will not be allowed to mar bilateral relations.”
