Pakistan welcomes mediation offer from US president on Kashmir issue

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan on Thursday welcomed the mediation offer from US President Donald Trump on Kashmir issue.  Addressing a weekly media briefing, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Aisha Farooqui reiterated a pleasant change could be witnessed in the entire region if the issue is resolved through peaceful negotiations.

US-India deal will disturb balance of power in region

Expressing Pakistan’s concern over arms deal between the US and India, the FO spokesperson maintained that the arms deal will disturb balance of power in the region, adding that arms race in the region would intensify conflict in the region. It is noteworthy that the US president said that India will buy $3 billion worth of military equipment, including attack helicopters, as the two countries deepen defence and commercial ties.

FM will represent Pakistan in US-Taliban peace deal agreement

Referring the US-Taliban peace deal, Aisha Farooqui said that Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi will represent Pakistan during signing of the agreement in Doha.

Federal, provincial govts working together to tackle coronavirus

Aisha Farooqui said that federal and provincial governments are working together to tackle novel coronavirus in Pakistan and concerned authorities are in continuous contact with Iranian leadership in this regard. She further said that Pakistani embassy in Tehran and health department is on high alert. She also expressed satisfaction on China’s efforts to curb the spread of the incurable coronavirus.

FO confirms Chinese president’s upcoming visit to Pakistan

The FO spokesperson confirmed that Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit Pakistan. It was also reported that the Chinese president along with his high-level delegation will arrive in Pakistan in June. Foreign office and Chinese FO were in contacts to finalize the schedule of Chinese President Xi’s Pakistan visit.
