ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has expressed the confidence that Pakistan would become one of the top places for investment before the end of 2020. In a tweet on Thursday, he said the government has fulfilled another of its manifesto commitments by showing improvement in the ease of doing business. “Another of our Manifesto commitments fulfilled - this time on Ease Of Doing Business. Pak achieves biggest improvement in its history in World Bank's EODB rankings. Over last decade Pak's ranking had slipped more than 50 places. Now we have improved 28 places - from 136 to 108,” the premier tweeted.

Congratulating the hard work of his team, PM Khan said, “We still have a long way to go. “I want to congratulate all the people in our govt who worked hard to make this happen. But we still have a long way to go. InshaAllah before the end of 2020 Pakistan will become one of the top places for investment,” he said in another tweet.

Pakistan’s ranking improved its ranking from 136 to 108, according to the World Bank’s annual flagship report “Ease of Doing Business 2020” released on Thursday. According to the reports, in a key progress that will greatly improve Islamabad’s image abroad, Pakistan has jumped up 28 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index and clinched 108th position besides securing a place among top ten global business climate improvers. Pakistan carried out six reforms in the last one year that helped improving its ranking from 136 to 108. The economies with the most notable improvement in Doing Business 2020 are Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Togo, Bahrain, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Kuwait, China, India, and Nigeria, according to the report closely watched by the global investors. Among South Asian nations although India still remained at top by improving 14 positions and clinched to 63rd, Pakistan also fared well by securing a place among top ten global business climate reformers and improving 28 positions in a year. Last year, Pakistan was ranked 136th among the 190 nations surveyed.
