Pakistani legend actress Sabiha Khanum passes away in US

NEW YORK (92 News) – Pakistani legend actress Sabiha Khanum passed away in Virginia, United States on Saturday. She was 85. She was born in Gujrat on October 16, 1935. She had been suffering from multiple diseases, including sugar, since long. She had married renowned actor of her age Santosh Kumar. Her first film ‘Baili’ was released in 1948. Later, she also performed in Anwar Kamal Pasha’s silver jubilee film ‘Do Ansoo’. She also performed in ‘Aghosh’. Sabiha Khanum won several awards, including Nigar Award, for her excellent services. She ruled the Pakistani cinema in 1950s and '60s with superhit movies, including ‘Gumnam’, ‘Choti Begum’, ‘Ayaz’, ‘Dil Mein Tu’, ‘Parvaaz’, ‘Dulla Bhatti’, ‘Kaneez’, ‘Mukhra’, ‘Anokha’, ‘Tehzeeb’ and many others. Sabiha played the lead roles with her husband late Santosh Kumar aka Syed Musa Raza. She gave award-winning performances in films during the 1980s and 1990s as well. There are some excellent television dramas to her credit also. The Pakistan government had conferred the Pride of Performance Award on her in 1986.
