Pakistan's Corona positivity ratio higher than 3% after over 70 days: Asad

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said Pakistan's coronavirus (COVID-19) positivity ratio was high than three per cent yesterday after more than 70 days.

In a tweet on Thursday, the minister said that National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has tightened restrictions on some high risk public activities in the face of increase in Corona cases.

He said the national Covid positivity ratio was high than three percent yesterday after more than seventy days. He also said the rising spread of the disease can only be controlled if people believe in the need for precautions.

"After more than 70 days the national covid positivity ratio was higher than 3% yesterday. Ncoc has tightened restrictions on some high risk public activities. However, the rising spread of the disease can only be controlled if people believe in the need for precautions," Asad Umar tweeted.

Owing to the second wave of coronavirus, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to close shopping malls, shops and markets at 10pm across the country.

According to the NCOC, marriage halls and restaurants will also be closed at 10pm. Moreover, it has been decided to close all recreational spots and parks at 6pm. However, medical stores, clinics and hospitals will remain open round the clock.

Earlier, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) had directed the provinces to ensure compliance of wearing of face masks and other SOPs against Covid-19 particularly in bazaars, shopping malls, public transport and restaurants.

The NCOC met in Islamabad on Wednesday with Minister for Planning Asad Umar in the chair. The forum decided that weaning of face mask is mandatory both in government and private offices.

The meeting was briefed that the positivity ratio of Coronavirus cases has increased in eleven major cities of the country.

At present, 4,374 smart lockdowns have been imposed across the country.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 14 more coronavirus-related fatalities during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the disease to 6,759.
