Pakistan’s wish for peace shouldn’t be considered weakness, says Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that Pakistan wants peace in the region, but its wish for peace should not be considered a weakness. Addressing Envoys Conference, Nawaz said the SAARC countries need to work together for the progress of the region. “Entire Pakistani nation was dismayed over recent irresponsible statements from the Indian leadership,” he said. Sharif said Pakistan wants good relations with its neighbours. The prime minister said Pakistan neither will allow anyone to conduct terrorist activities nor let anyone use its soil for such activities. He said Afghanistan’s enemy is the enemy of Pakistan. He made it clear that Pakistan fully supports the ongoing reconciliation process in Afghanistan. “The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project will benefit the entire region,” the prime minister said. Earlier addressing the National Assembly session on Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the energy crisis gripping the nation will be controlled in three years. “Work on different energy projects is underway rapidly,” he said. “These projects include two of 330 MW each in Thar based on coal. Also, two projects of 1320 MW will be completed at Port Qasim and Hub.” Speaking about the Lahore-Karachi Motorway, he said that the Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway is already being constructed. “Several motorway projects will also be completed within the government’s tenure,” he vowed. “It would have been better if the motorway to Karachi constructed in Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government.” He stressed the need to make Gwadar a duty-free port like the Gulf countries. “We should sit together and formulate new laws to give a special status of duty-free port to Gwadar besides a new administrative system there,” he said.
