Panama Case: Court demands record of Hussain Nawaz's offshore companies
January 30, 2017
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has demanded a record of the offshore companies of Hussain Nawaz and his children in Panama Leaks case. Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked that the reality can be known if the record is presented. A five member larger bench of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed hearing of the Panama Leaks Case on Monday. Salman Akram Raja, counsel for Hussain Nawaz started his arguments. He said that there are three sides to my case – Hussain Nawaz is the beneficial owner of London flats and Nawaz Sharif has no link with London flats. Justice Ahsan remarked that the counsel would have to prove that Nawaz Sharif is not the owner of London flats. Raja said that it is the responsibility of the petitioner to submit the evidence. Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted the record regarding Ishaq Dar’s apology in Hudaibiya Paper Mills case. The court demanded a written reply from the attorney general for not filing an appeal against the Sharif family. Shahid Hamid, the counsel for Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar, completed his arguments. Ishaq Dar cannot undergo a trial again. Ishaq Dar had submitted an apology for money laundering that was accepted by the NAB, Hamid argued. At this, Justice Ahsan remarked that Dar’s statement can be used against the prime minister. The court adjourned the hearing till Tuesday.
