Panamagate Case: SC says several pages of PM’s life are missing

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has on Thursday resumed the hearing of the Panamagate case. A five-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa is resumed hearing the case. During the proceedings, Prime Minister's counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan is presented his arguments. He read the PM’s speech in the court. The apex court raised the matter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that the premier has said that his life was an open book, but several pages this open book are missing. Giving his arguments, Makhdoom Ali Khan said that neither Nawaz Sharif has any company in the British Virgin Island nor he is the owner of any offshore entity, adding that the applicants filed petitions after talking about differences in the speech. He said that the petitioners didn’t accuse the premier of lying but only said that Sharif didn’t give accurate description of the allegations. The PM’s counsel further denied that his client had anything to do with the London flats. Justice Ijaz remarked that the records which the Prime Minister mentioned had not been produced. "We cannot decide what is true or false without looking at the records," he said. Justice Ijaz Afzal remarked that the prime minister’s speech was written before, adding that was hiding some facts an innocent mistake or he deliberately did this. He remarked that it could be ignored if the PM made an innocent mistake but said it would have serious consequences if he deliberately did this. The court further adjourned the hearing till January 13 (Friday).
