ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the pans of the scale of justice are not equal and their stance is proving to be right.

Addressing a meeting of the coalition parties on Wednesday, he said that the parliament is a supreme institution. "The apex court will have to admit that the parliament had taken constitutional and legal steps with regard to it," he maintained. "The ruling alliance has decided that the elections will be held simultaneously across the country after the completion of its constitutional term."

He said that national interests are being sacrificed for personal interests. "It is not duty of the Supreme Court to become a guarantor and a 'panchayat'. The judiciary should announce verdicts as per the law and the constitution. We still consider the verdict was of 4-3 and the government is alliance is agreed on the point that the elections should be held in November," he declared.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that even an enemy cannot do a role performed by the PTI agents abroad. "No leaf has been left unturned to create chaos in the country. A rift has been created in the society and even the armed forces of Pakistan and their leaders have not been spared. They took U-turns on their each word. They said that it was earlier stated that the conspiracy to topple the government was prepared in the US and later it was said that it was hatched from inside," he added.

He said that the government strived to rectify the matters.

APP adds: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the parliament would take a decision regarding the elections as the forum had already taken legal and constitutional steps to address the pervading challenges.

He said in the recent past, the meetings were held to discuss the challenges and the remedial measures, and a joint session of the parliament also took legal and constitutional steps in that regard. "It was the government’s political and moral obligation to accept the Parliament’s decision."

The prime minister said that as far as the talks for evolving consensus on a single election date were concerned, he said there was an 'overwhelming' opinion among the coalition parties that the doors to dialogue should remain open.

"And there was also an opinion that a parliamentary committee might play a role in that regard as the government desired to evolve a consensus on the election date and did not want to impede the process just to satisfy its ego," he added.
