Park Lane case: Court returns supplementary reference with objections

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The registrar of an accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday returned the supplementary reference in Park Lane case against former president Asif Ali Zardari with objections. According to the details garnered, the registrar office has told the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) that supplementary reference filed in Park Lane case was not properly arranged. It asked the NAB to resubmit it after necessary rectifications. The NAB yesterday had filed a supplementary reference against Zardari and 19 other suspects in Park Lane case. Earlier, the NAB has filed a supplementary reference against former president Asif Ali Zardari in Park Lane case. According to details, the PPP leader has been nominated as key accused in the reference while company’s directors and two employees of a private bank have also been named in the case. The total number of accused has been increased to 19 in the supplementary reference. The supplementary reference has been filed in the accountability court in Islamabad. Earlier on August 10, accountability court has indicted former president Asif Ali Zardari in Park Lane reference via video link hearing. The hearing was conducted by AC Judge Azam Khan. Asif Ali Zardari, Anwar Majeed along with nine accused were indicted in the reference. Asif Zardari joined the indictment proceedings via video link from Bilawal House Karachi, Anwar Majeed from a hospital in Karachi while three other accused, Farooq Abdullah, Hanif, and Saleem Faisal joined the video link proceedings from Karachi. The accused refused to accept charge sheet and termed it baseless.
