Park Lane reference: Court to indict Zardari on March 25
March 3, 2020
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An accountability court will indict former president Asif Ali Zardari and other accused in Park Lane reference on March 25. According to the details garnered, Zardari skipped today’s hearing of mega money laundering and Park Lane reference due to health condition and sought exemption from the court appearance, which was accepted by the court. Meanwhile, Faryal Talpur, the sister of Zardari, and other co-accused in the reference appeared before court and marked their attendance. The court directed all the accused to ensure their presence on the next hearing. Later, the court adjourned hearing of the reference and fixed March 25 for the indictment. A day earlier, an accountability court on Monday endorsed seizure Zardari’s house in Karachi’s area of Clifton. After seizing Zardari’s house on February 12, the NAB had sought confirmation from the accountability court. NAB’s Investigation Officer Ahmed Saeed Wazir appeared before the court for the hearing. In his arguments, the NAB prosecutor said that the house was bought in 2014 and the payment was made through joint accounts with the corruption money. Accepting the NAB’s plea, the court has given confirmation to seize the house of the former president and also ordered to provide copy of the order to the accused Zardari. “The affected party can contact the court, if they want,” the court order reads.

The NAB has uncovered benami property of Abdul Ghani Majeed, situated in Karachi’s area of Cantt. The anti-graft watchdog body has decided to seize 5,145 square yards plot. In this context the NAB Rawalpindi has moved accountability court for the seizure of plot.
