October 29, 2020

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday acquitted Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan in the Parliament attack case.

ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas announced this decision on an application seeking acquittal of the prime minister.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had filed acquittal pleas in PTV and Parliament attack cases.

The court, however, decided to indict others named in the case, including Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood, and Planning Minister Asad Umar, as well as prominent party leader Aleem Khan and a former close aide of PM Imran, Jahangir Khan Tareen.

Earlier, the court had acquitted Prime Minister Imran Khan in the SSP torture case. During the 2014 sit-in, cases were registered against Imran Khan and PTI leaders under terrorism provisions.
