Parliament briefed on internal & external security during in-camera session

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The DG Military Operations briefed the parliament about the internal and external security during the in-camera session on Friday.

Sources said that law and order, counterterrorism operations and border affairs were part of the briefing.

PM pays Tribute to LEAs Personnel:

Addressing the participants, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the officers and jawans of the Pak Army, Rangers and police. He said that Pakistan had rendered over 80,000 sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

"Peace was restored due to the great sacrifices of the martyrs. This endeavour was wasted in four years. "Who brought back terrorism to the country? Where were the funds of billions of rupees given to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spend? We will have to get the reply to these questions," he declared.

Parliament, Constitution are Reflection of Public Opinion: COAS

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir said that the people are centre of gravity of Pakistan State. "The constitution says that the power will be used through the elected representatives of the people. The parliament and the constitution are reflection of the public opinion," he declared.

The COAS said that sovereignty over the entire universe belongs to Allah Almighty. He also paid tribute to those who created the 1973 constitution. He said that there is no dearth of resources and manpower in Pakistan. "We should talk about our Pakistan leaving out the discussion of new and old Pakistan. People's representatives should determine the destination. Pak Army will support the journey of Pakistan's progress and success. Security forces are vigilant for establishment of perpetual peace," he added.

The COAS said that the dialogues with terrorists resulted into regrouping of terrorists. "Terrorists have no option except to accept the writ of the state," he declared.
