Parliament resounds with ‘Kashmir Banay Ga Pakistan’ during FM Qureshi's speech

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The parliament resounded with the slogans of ‘Kashmir Banay Ga Pakistan’ (Kashmir will become Pakistan) during the speech of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the joint session on Wednesday. Expressing his views, the minister said that they have to give a message to Kashmiris that they are not alone. He said that he had requested the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to intervene in the matter. He said that India’s August 5 move had made Kashmir an international issue. “The struggle Kashmir and Kashmiris is being discussed everywhere in the world,” he added. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Modi’s decisions are being criticized in India. “The decision has united the Kashmiris as well. If Modi has some illusion, he should see the situation after lifting the curfew and withdrawing the Army.” He informed the House that Pakistan had limited diplomatic relations with India. “We will have to remain united over the Kashmir issue. It will be a big mistake to divide ourselves into political groups,” he declared. Qureshi said that the joint session deliberated in detail the implications of Indian act of revocation of special Status of Kashmir. “Members from various political parties were unanimous in their condemnation of illegal Indian act and united in their support for Kashmiri brethren.” He said that he had gone to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj but he sacrificed it to express solidarity with people of Kashmir and Pakistan by attending the joint session of Parliament. He said India has always had tried to put the Kashmir issue on the back burner. The minister said Kashmiris are looking towards Pakistan and the response of their Parliament. He said for the first time use of cluster ammunition has been used by India on innocent Kashmiris as it violates the international norms and Geneva Convention. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that India had stealthily moved the resolution of annexation of Kashmir. “I, on first of August, sent a letter to UN Secretary General seeking his intervention to stop human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and India’s plans to change the status of Kashmir. The letter urged the UN secretary general to distribute this among all members of UNSC. We sent a letter to EU on third of this month apprising them of deteriorating situation,” he informed the House.
