Parliamentarians differ on Valentine’s Day celebrations

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Valentine's Day is celebrated to renew love on February 14 each year. Someone presents flowers and gifts to his/her loved one, while other makes it memorable through smiles. Nabeel Gabol of the MQM wants to boost friendship with Awami Muslim League president Sheikh Rasheed. However, Sheikh Rasheed says Valentine’s Day is related to red color and he will celebrate this day in his Lal Haveli. Some female parliamentarians received gifts from their spouses, while others contended with just greetings. However, some parliamentarians opposed to celebrate the day. They said there is no concept of Valentine’s Day in Islam. One the other hand, a few parliamentarians term Valentine’s Day a good opportunity to express love.
