ISLAMABAD (92 News) - An in-camera meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was held on Tuesday.

The committee gave the government a mandate to continue talks with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

During the meeting, it was decided to form an oversight committee to supervise the dialogue process. The committee was told that talks with the banned TTP are going on through the facilitation of the Afghan government.

Political and military leadership attended the meeting. The army officers briefed the committee about the matters pertaining to national security. The committee was also informed about implementation of the FATF conditions.

COAS Qamar Bajwa replied to the questions of the participants. He said that Pakistan would continue its constructive role for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Participants hoped that Afghanistan will not allow anyone to use its soil against Pakistan. However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan did not attend the meeting.
