Parliamentary leaders briefed in-camera session over Pak-India tension

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An in-camera briefing to parliamentary leaders over Indian aggression was held in Parliament House on Wednesday. According to the details, the leaders of parliamentary parties in the National Assembly (NA) were given in-camera briefing over the escalating Pakistan-India tension in the wake of violation of Line of Control (LoC) by Indian Air Force. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi briefed the parliamentarians of the strategy of government while Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, the director general (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) apprised them of the input of military. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was also present in-camera briefing. The sources said that the parliamentary leaders were informed about the professional preparations of armed forces and also briefed on the decisions taken by the National Security Committee (NSC) and the National Command Authority (NCA) in the wake of violation of LoC by Indian Air Force (IAF). Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zradri among others attended the meeting. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation included Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Raja Zafarul Haq, Mushahidullah Khan, Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Sanaullah and Marriyum Aurangzeb. Sources said the PPP delegates included Khursheed Shah, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman, Saleem Mandviwala and Raza Rabbani. “The briefing went well,” the DG ISPR said, in response to a question by a journalist after the session concluded. After in-camera briefing, speaking to the journalists, Shehbaz Sharif termed that Pakistan annihilated the enemy and taught the best lesson for Indian violation of LoC. Asif Ali Zardari said India was responded very well. Khursheed Shah assured that all the political leaders are united for sovereignty of the country. On the occasion, Khawaja Asif expressed satisfaction over in-camera session. Shah Mehmood Qureshi explained that the international community was taken into confidence over Indian aggression. Meanwhile, in the session, the parliamentary leaders were apprised that Pakistan has no aggressive intentions about the neighbor country. “We are fully capable to respond any aggression and misadventure of India.” Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak asserted that this matter of Pakistan instead of only government or opposition. He also said that the foreign minister recorded protest over calling Indian foreign minister in OIC.
PM chairs National Command Authority meeting
Amid rising tensions with India, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan chaired a meeting of the National Command Authority on Wednesday to discuss Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression. The NCA meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan in chair. According to the sources, the NCA decides about Pakistan’s response to the Indian aggression. The NCA oversees policy formulation, exercise, deployment, research and development, employment and operational command, and control of the country’s nuclear arsenal. The sources said that all the attendees also expressed the reservation over Indian violation of LoC and aggression against Pakistan. The prime minister was also briefed about the current scenario of tension with India and their Indian Air Force’s (IAF) actions and response by Pakistan Air Force.
