LAHORE (92 News) - Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has ceased to be the Punjab chief minister constitutionally by not taking the vote of confidence.

Talking to the media outside the Governor's House on Thursday, he said that the de-notification of CM by the governor will be an informal action.

"The first and foremost action will be the election for chief minister whenever the Punjab Assembly session will be held," he maintained.

He said that the Punjab governor could ask the prime minister for the governor's rule if the implementation of the constitutional demand is blocked. "President Arif Alvi can do nothing without advice of the prime minister," he added.

The minister said that there is no political crisis in the country. "A session for the election of the new chief minister should be announced. We have made complete arrangement if any mess was created," he declared. He asked the Punjab chief secretary and IGP to perform his duty. "The law and order is the responsibility is provincial government," he added.

To a question about the arrest of Imran Khan, Rana Sanaullah said that anything could happen.
