LAHORE (92 News) – The passport of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz has been submitted in the Lahore High Court (LHC). It is noteworthy that Maryam Nawaz granted conditional bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case yesterday. She was directed to submit passport, two surety bond of Rs10 million each and Rs70 million cash as guarantee in the court. Maryam Nawaz’s surety bond will be approved after scrutiny of her passport and Rs70 million of the deposited amount. After thorough consideration, the court will issue ‘robkar’ for her release. Oon Monday, the LHC approved the bail of the PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. The decision to grant bail was announced by a two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir. The court attached the conditions on bail of Maryam Nawaz.
The court has ordered that the defendant deposit two surety bonds for Rs10 million each for the bail, 70 million on behalf of bail guarantee and her passport to be also submitted in the court. Justice Baqir Ali Najfi announced the verdict granting bail to Maryam Nawaz so that she can look after her ailing father, Nawaz Sharif. It is pertinent to mention here that the LHC had reserved the ruling on Oct 31 over her plea. During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor had told the LHC that the petitioner sought bail for looking after her father Nawaz Sharif, however, the law has no space for such a genre of bail. The prosecutor had pleaded LHC to reject the petition and declare it non-maintainable. Later, the court granted conditional bail to Maryam Nawaz. Earlier, PM Imran Khan has allowed Maryam Nawaz to stay with her ailing father Nawaz Sharif in Services Hospital. She has been granted permission to stay with her father on humanitarian grounds. The Punjab government has been informed about the decision made by the prime minister.
