February 14, 2019
KARACHI (92 News) – A six-month-old boy died due to lack of treatment in Sukkur as doctors continued their strike for the second day on the call of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Thursday. The boy’s mother said that her son had high temperature and doctors did not examine him despite her repeated requests. Five years ago, a child had died during the doctor’s strike. On the other hand, the protesting doctors closed OPDs in Karachi, Sukkur and Hayderabad. As a result, hundreds of operations had to be postponed. Relatives faced agony due to denial of treatment to their loved ones. They said that doctors should not play with the lives of patients for their demands. On the other hand, the YDA office-bearers said that they would continue their protest till issuance of a notification about the increase in their privileges and salaries. Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani said that they had accepted the demands of doctors and now they are blackmailing the government.
