PDM decides to challenge EVM, other controversial laws in SC

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has demanded that the general elections should be held in 2022.

The demand was made during a meeting chaired by PDM chairman Maulana Fazalur Rehman on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, the PDM leaders endorsed the decisions made by the Joint Opposition's Parliamentary Steering Committee. It also decided to challenge the controversial laws regarding the electoral reforms and electronic voting machine. It decided to issue a show-cause notice to members who remained absent from the meeting. Several members participated in the meeting through the video link.

Maulana Fazalur Rehaman said that it was a joke to pass 33 bills in a few hours. "The government attacked the ECP by doing legislation in clash with the constitution. The evidences coming from the house are damaging the judiciary," he added.

The PDM chairman said that the judiciary will have to restore its status through character after the emergence of the affidavit and audio tape leak.

Farooq H Naik, Azam Nazir Tarar an Kamran Murtaza will decide a strategy in this regard. The opposition will also seek assistance from Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Ahsan Bhoon.

According to sources, Maulana Fazalur Rehman has supported the proposal to tender resignations on reaching Islamabad for the long march. 

Earlier to a query on reaching the venue to attend the PDM meeting, Maulana Fazalur Rehman had shown his ignorance about the long march.
