PDM to held first power show in city of wrestlers today

GUJRANWALA (92 News) – The city of wrestlers became political arena as Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of major opposition parties is all set to hold its first power show in Gujranwala today (Friday).

According to the details garnered, the first public meeting of PDM will be held at the Jinnah Stadium Gujranwala, for which preparations for the big rally at Jinnah Stadium are underway, chairs have been set up as well as several feet wide stage has been completed. Banners have been displayed across the city.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz, chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PDM president and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will participate on today’s public gathering.

Maryam Nawaz is scheduled to depart for Gujranwala from Jati Umra in a caravan while Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will lead a rally from Lalamusa. Maulana Fazlur Rehman will leave for Gujranwala in a rally from Jamia Ashrafia after Jumma prayers.

At least 7,000 policemen and officers will be deployed at the Jinnah Stadium for security reasons. The venue of the PDM’s public gathering has been decorated with flags and banners of all opposition parties.

Gujranwala district administration had granted permission to the opposition alliance to hold a rally at Jinnah Stadium in the city on October 16.

The opposition parties were granted permission following successful negotiations with the local administration. Matters related to COVID-19 SOPs, security situation and other issues discussed in the meeting.
