RAWALPINDI (92 News) - Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has said that peace in South Asia will remain elusive until a peaceful solution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute is found in accordance with the UNSC resolutions and the aspirations of Kashmiri people.

He made the remarks during a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in New York. The COAS condemned unilateral and illegal Indian step to change the status of Jammu and Kashmir and said that these are in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

Highlighting the Gaza catastrophe, the COAS urged the UN secretary general to mobilize the international community for immediate ceasefire in Gaza. "The international community will have to play the role to stop human tragedy in Gaza. The durable solution to the Palestine issue lies in the two-nation state," he observed.

The COAS expressed grief over the plight of the innocent citizens in Gaza. According to the ISPR, UN secretary general thanked the COAS for visiting the UN Headquarters. He lauded the role of the Pak Army and other institutions for international peace.
