RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue is vital for regional peace.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with Defence and Martyrs' Day held at the General Headquarters last night, the COAS said the world must know that without peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue, peace and stability will remain elusive in the region.

He said that there is no room for any violent attitude or extremism. "We have to strictly deal with those spreading anarchy through modern media," he maintained.

COAS Qamar Bajwa said that only democracy is strength and defence of the country. "Now education, health, infrastructure and climate change should be top priority," he added.

The Army Chief said that Pakistan's armed forces are capable to fight all external and internal threats in a befitting manner and that Pakistan has achieved self-sustainability in defence capabilities and made the country's defence impenetrable.

He said that the armed forces, with the support of the nation, have achieved unprecedented successes in the fight against terrorism and in bringing normalcy to the country.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa termed restoring peace in war-torn Afghanistan mandatory for sustainable development of the South Asian region.

He said inclusive setup in Afghanistan is expected and it will definitely change the fate of the war-hit country.
