People feel threatened by Musharraf's return to Pakistan: CJP

KARACHI (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar said that that the people were feeling threat by former president Pervez Musharraf' return to Pakistan. A bench headed by the chief justice heard Kalabagh dam case at the Supreme Court Karachi registry. Former WAPDA chairman Zafar Mahmood has submitted complete report to assist in finding a solution to address the water shortage issue. Advocate Mujeeb Peerzada informed the court that the Kala Bhag dam issue was controversial, on reply, the CJP asked that let give the alternative of this dam. The chief justice remarked that no verdict will be declared which can affect to the any party. “We have summoned Musharraf but people feel threatened by his return. How can Musharraf harm anyone? Musharraf' return to Pakistan should be no threat to anyone," the CJP remarked, during the hearing. He further said that the former president should return to Pakistan and face the law. The former WAPDA chairman informed the court that all government were responsible to the shortage of water for not constructing any dam. The CJP assured that ending the shortage of water is a priority for the court and he will play active role to construct dams. The CJP stated that he will establish a committee under his supervision. He said that this committee will supervise the issues related to water scarcity and construction of dams. Earlier in previous hearing, the CJP observed that not a single political party in Pakistan prioritized the water issue, adding that none had included the issue in their election manifestos. “We will find a legal solution to secure our children’s future,” he said. “River Neelum is bound to dry out due to Kishanganga Dam. I have repeated on a number of occasions that the water problem is extremely crucial, and non-provision of water to upcoming generations is akin to severe deprivation,” he added.
