Petroleum prices will retained in August: caretaker govt
August 1, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Caretaker government has decided to maintain oil prices at the existing levels for the month of August. A notification by Finance Ministry says the petroleum prices have been retained at current levels in order to provide relief to the common man despite the request of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority for bumping up the rates owing to higher costs in the global market. Accordingly, prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene, and light diesel will remain at per-litre rates of Rs95.24, Rs112.94, Rs83.96, and Rs75.37, respectively. Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had recommended an increase in the prices of petroleum products from August 1 in light of the price increase in the international market. The Finance Ministry had forwarded the request to caretaker PM Justice (r) Nasirul Mulk, requesting him not to approve the authority’s proposal. The caretaker PM decided to keep the rates of petroleum products unchanged. “Tax/duty adjustments have been made accordingly,” said the notification. “The decision has been taken to provide maximum relief to the common man.”
