PIA aircrafts, Navy ship depart for Yemen to bring back Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - A group of 600 Pakistanis will reach Pakistan today (Sunday) from Yemeni city Al Hudaida. As per the prime minister’s directions two jumbo jets of PIA, PK-7001 and PK-747, along with Airbus-310 have departed for Yemen to evacuate the entrapped Pakistani compatriots. The flights have been cleared for entering into the airspace and landing at Al Hudaida aiport. Moreever, a Pakistan Navy ship has also left for Yemen to bring back Pakistanis living in other cities. Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that the ship holds the capacity to accommodate 200 people. According to details, the government has developed a strategy to shift the Pakistanis from the war-torn country to a secure place whereas The caravan faced checking from Yemen armed forces and Houthi groups during the journey from Al Hudaida to Sanaa, however, it was permitted to leave after checking the documents. The convoy included the Pakistani ambassador to Yemen along with a large number of women and children. According to unofficial estimates, 600 Pakistanis are stranded in the besieged Yemeni capital of Sanaa. Pakistan’s foreign ministry officials said around 2,145 Pakistanis are currently living in Yemen. According to Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam, the convoy will reach Pakistan today. “Pakistanis residing in other cities of Yemen have also been directed to reach Al Hudaida,” she said.
