ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The European Union has allowed the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to operate flights to and from Europe till July 3. This was confirmed by PIA spokesperson on Wednesday. He said that all PIA flights to and from Islamabad to London, PK785 and PK 786 will operate as per schedule. The PIA spokesperson also stated that an announcement with regard to other flights will be made soon. He confirmed that the PIA administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistani diplomats were in constant contact with European authorities over the matter. “The foreign secretary had contacted European diplomats on an urgent basis after which the national flag carrier was allowed to land in Britain, Europe and fly over them as well,” he stated. A day earlier, all flights of the PIA have been suspended for six months. The suspension of flights will be applicable from July 1. The PIA spokesman said that the passengers who have booked their seats will have the option either to refund their amount or defer their booking. He said that the PIA has been continuously in touch with the European Air Safety Agency (EASA) and trying to remove their reservations. The spokesman hoped that the suspension would soon end due to the steps taken by the government and administration.
