Plane crash report to be made public on June 22: Ghulam Sarwar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has vowed to lay the report of plane crash investigations before parliament and the public on June 22. Giving the briefing to journalists in Islamabad, the minister said that the Investigation board has taken possession of everything found at the crash site and everything will be revealed after decoding the equipment in France. He said investigation process will be free, fair and transparent and without any influence. He said the report will not give reprieve to any person responsible for the incident. He also said investigation board has the authority to include any stakeholder during investigation. The minister said recorders for voice conversation and data have been recovered which will be taken to France by an Airbus team for decoding and further analysis. “If plane landed once then who gave orders to take off again? Everything will be investigated and none of us are experts so we should wait for the report of the investigation board.” “No one will be unfairly saved or implicated in the reports of plane crash investigations, which will be laid before parliament and the public on June 22,” Ghulam Sarwar assured. The aviation minister said as many as 51 bodies have been identified so far after their DNA tests were held and handed over to their relatives. He said remaining bodies are in various morgues and are being DNA tested. He said the government will give a compensation of one million rupees to relatives of each deceased. He said the insurance money will be in addition to this amount. The minister said he held teleconference with PIA management immediately after the plane crash. He said team of Airbus reached Karachi on 26th of this month. He said 12 to 15 houses were badly damaged when the plane hit them. He said 97 out of 99 people were martyred in the accident. Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that the PIA flight from Lahore to Karachi crashed during landing. A total of 99 people were on board out of which two people miraculously survived. Twelve to fifteen houses were badly affected in the incident and cars parked on the street were also burnt, he added.
