PM Abbasi urges world to recognize Pakistan’s sacrifices in war on terror

NEW YORK (92 News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has on Thursday said that Pakistan has fought war against terrorism suffering huge casualties and even today, thousands of soldiers are fighting the menace and the world will have to recognize. In an interview with the CNN and Council on Foreign Relations during his visit to New York, he said called India a threat to Pakistan, adding that Pakistan had developed nuclear weapons to counter the threats posed by India. The prime minister said that Pakistan is an ally of the US in the war on terror, adding that Pakistan wants stability in Afghanistan. Abbasi said: “Pakistan is ready to work with the Trump administration, especially in fighting terrorism, adding that relations have ups and downs and this relationship is 70 years old. We have always been an ally, especially partners in war against terror.” Earlier in his interview with the Council on Foreign Relations, the premier said Pakistan has a fully secure, reliable and robust nuclear command and control system under a full civilian oversight. “The issue of cross border incursions from Afghanistan is very serious and Pakistan has an abiding interest in peace in Afghanistan and desires a negotiated Afghan-led solution of the Afghan problem,” Abbasi said. He said that the Indian aggression along the Line of Control is aimed at diverting attention from its atrocities against the innocent Kashmiri civilians. The PM went on to say that Pakistan desires to engage with India on the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of trust and respect.
