PM, Ali Zaidi discuss court’s order to make Baldia tragedy's JIT public

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi called on Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and discussed the court order to make JIT report of Baldia tragedy public. During the meeting, Karachi-related issues were also discussed. Ali Zaidi discussed the court order to Sindh government to make JIT reports public. It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the provincial government on Jan 28 to release JIT reports of high-profile cases. The minister also apprised PM Khan regarding his letter written to the chief secretary of Sindh for providing copies of the JIT reports as per the court order. He said he will plead to the court for contempt proceedings against the authorities if the copies of JIT reports will not be issued. According to the sources, the premier also supported the court order, saying that the Sindh government should immediately comply the court order. “The facts should be brought before the public,” he added. Earlier, SHC Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro heard the case heard the plea filed by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi in the SHC seeking to make public the JIT reports. The petition that over 200 people were burnt to death in Baldia Town fire while Uzair Baloch had turned the peaceful city of Karachi into war zone. Sindh’s Chief Secretary wanted to hide the facts from the people. The reality behind these cases must be unearthed, lawyer Ali Zaidi said. “Now these officers have got promotions and posted at key government positions,” counsel said.  He requested the court to publish and provide official copies of the JITs’ reports as all citizens have right to access the information. “We want to keep the facts before the public and filed petition to make the reports public”. Later, the high court granted a petition seeking to release three JIT reports publicly. The SHC has directed the concerned teams to unveil their findings on Baldia Town factory fire case, former Fishermen Cooperative Society chairperson Nisar Morai matter and Lyari gangwar leader Uzair Baloch issue.
