PM Imran Khan reaches Tehran, to meet Iranian leaders today

TEHRAN (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Tehran on a two-day official visit to Iran on Sunday.

He will meet Iranian Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani and

Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei today.

This is the first visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Iran. He is paying the visit on the invitation of Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani.

The premier made a stopover in Mashhad before proceeding on to Tehran. Ali Reza Razm Hussaini, the governor general of Khorasan-e-Razavi province, received the prime minister upon arrival at the Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Iran Riffat Masood, officials of the Pakistan Embassy in Tehran and Pakistan Consulate in Mashhad were also present at the airport.

After a brief stopover in Mashhad, Prime Minister Imran arrived at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport where he was received by Health Minister of Iran (Minister-in-waiting) Dr Saeed Namaki.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also visited the shrine of Imam Raza at Mashhad and offered Fateha and paid respect. He also prayed for the progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan.

"He was presented 'Static Guard' upon arrival," read a press release issued by the PM Office. The prime minister is accompanied by Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari, Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Sayed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, SAPM on National Health Services Dr Zafarullah Mirza and SAPM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar.
