PM expresses grief over deaths in Karachi; briefed about water-shortage, Green Line bus

KARACHI (92 News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives as a result of intense hot weather in Karachi on Wednesday. Chairing a high-level meeting on recent intense heat wave in Karachi at Chief Minister House, he said the whole country sympathizes with the affected people in this hour of grief. "This is an unprecedented occurrence in the history of Pakistan," he said. "All departments who shirked their responsibilities adding to public misery should be held accountable in a transparent manner." SindhChief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah thanked the Prime Minister for taking personal interest in matters of the province, particularly Karachi. The PM was briefed about the water shortage situation in Karachi and the proposed plans of the government to deal with it. The meeting was also briefed on 17.8-km Green Line Bus rapid transit system which is being funded by the federal government and for that matter, eight billion rupees have already been released for project. Earlier, the PM was received at the airport by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Federal Ministers Ch Nisar Ali Khan, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Pervaiz Rashid are accompanying the prime minister.
