ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Interior Ministry to work on a more liberal visa policy.

In his tweets on Wednesday, he said that the federal cabinet has approved changes in visa regime for Afghan nationals. “Our embassies will now process their visa applications on the basis of their current nationality. Secondly, Afghan drivers and transporters will get multiple visa for a period of up to one year within 48 hours.”

The prime minister said that this facilitation in the visa regime is aimed at bringing both countries closer, helping Afghan people and attracting business and investment from wider Central Asian region.

Earlier, the government had decided to grant six-month multiple visa to the Afghan transporters, abolishing the condition of 10-day visa. The decision was made during a meeting of the federal cabinet.

The cabinet had also approved Hajj Policy 2022. It had also approved the first ever National Waste Policy 2022 to dispose of harmful waste, which is polluting the underground water.
