PM directs to close shops, restaurants and marriage functions early

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday directed marriage functions in Islamabad to be closed by 10 pm, shops by 8 pm and restaurants by 11 pm to save electricity. Prime Minister gave the directions while chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy. It was decided in the meeting that the same pattern for electricity saving would be replicated in Punjab to set an example for other provinces. The PM directed the Ministers to hold meetings with Chief Ministers of all provinces and provide them with detailed briefing regarding the need and urgency of conservation measures, including early closure of shops, marriage halls and restaurants. PM was briefed that one LNG terminal has been completed and the other will be completed next month The Prime Minister was also updated on the planned 1100-km North-South Gas pipeline which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2017. The premier asked Secretary Water and Power to personally supervise all the projects being planned under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor on daily basis.
