PM Disqualification Case: ECP adjourns hearing till Sep 28

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) adjourned the hearing of petitions seeking the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his relatives until September 28. A full bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) retired Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan heard the petitions seeking the prime minister’s disqualification. During the proceedings, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) asked Hamid Khan that the ECP has no right to hear party fund case but in this case you said that the ECP can hear this case. Hamid Khan said that these two are different cases after which the ECP adjourned the hearing until September 28 and directed the prime minister’s lawyer Salman Butt to submit reply until September 28. The Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Awami Muslim League (AML) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) had filed references against the Nawaz Sharif and his family. The political parties filed their petitions individually following a deadlock in talks between opposition parties and government over the terms of reference (ToRs) for the proposed commission to investigate the Panama Papers.
