PM Election: Opposition fails to name joint candidate

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition parties have on Monday failed to agree on the name of joint opposition candidate for the election of prime minister. The meeting of opposition parties was held in the chamber of leader of the opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah. The meeting failed to agree on the joint candidate of the opposition for the premiership. The meeting will be held again tomorrow (Tuesday). Meanwhile, Khursheed Shah, Sheikh Rasheed, Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Sahibzada Tariqullah have also submitted their nomination papers. Earlier, the opposition leader said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has not taken them in confidence before announcing the name of Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rasheed as the contender for the premiership. He said that PTI chairman Imran Khan statements could endanger the opposition’s alliance. The PPP leader said that Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Siraj ul Haq should be given credit who was the first to knock the court’s door. Talking to media, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the opposition parties have sought time to further review. He said that they will continue their fight against corruption.
