President, PM grieved over death of renowned journalist Arif Nizami
ISLAMABAD (92 News) - President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan Wednesday expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the death of senior and renowned journalist Arif Nizami.
The president and prime minister prayed for the departed soul and for the family to bear the loss with patience.
The prime minister took to twitter and expressed condolences over the demise of the veteran journalist. “Saddened to learn of the passing of veteran journalist, editor and political commentator Arif Nizami. My condolences and prayers go to his family.”

The president further said that late Nizami’s contributions in the field of journalism would be remembered.
Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said he was saddened to hear about Nizami's demise, adding that it was a "personal loss" for him. "May Allah have mercy on the deceased," he added.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said he had a long relationship with Nizami. "His father and my grandfather struggled together for Pakistan."
"He was just like a family elder for me," he added.

Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said Nizami was an icon in the field of journalism and had always preferred substance over sensationalism.
"May Allah Ta’ala bless his soul & give strength to the bereaved family," the spokesperson added.

Veteran journalist and 92 News senior analyst Arif Nizami passes away at a private hospital in Lahore.
According to the reports, the veteran journalist was under treatment at a hospital for the last two weeks after he had suffered a heart attack. Following the attack, he was shifted to an ICU, but he could not recover from it and breathed his last today.
The details of his funeral prayers have not yet been announced.
Senior journalist Arif Nizami was born on October 14, 1948 in Lahore. He received his early education in Lahore. After, he graduated from Government College of Lahore and did MA in Journalism from Punjab University.
After completing his education, he worked for a long time as the executive editor of his father Hameed Nizami Nawa-i-Waqt Group of newspapers. He was also the editor of Pakistan Today. He continued to write columns in various newspapers including 92 News and also served as an senior anchor in 92 News.
Meanwhile, Arif Nizami had served as a caretaker federal minister in former caretaker prime minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso's cabinet back in 2013. Nizami served as the editor of an English daily and the president of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE).
