PM, govt negotiating team discuss Azadi March

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday met with the government’s negotiating team and discussed Azadi March. The head of the negotiating team, Defense Minister Pervaiz Khattak, briefed PM Khan on the development related to talks with the opposition’s Rahbar Committee. PM Imran Khan discussed the next course of action regarding the Azadi March. The meeting between the government negotiating team and the prime minister took place at 11am in PM House. During the meeting, the consultations held about the negotiations with the opposition and other matters. On the other hand, deadlock continued between the government and opposition over Azadi March as both sides agreed to meet again at the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday. After the meeting, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak hoped that the talks would yield good results. Rahbar Committee chairman Akram Durrani said that the government committee should listen to their demands. He said that the government had listened to their demands. “Imran Khan had said that he would resign if only 500 people ask him to do so. Bilawal Bhutto, Shehbaz Sharif and other leaders represent their parties. Our sit-in is against Imran Khan, not anyone else,” he said, while talking to the media. He said that he had declared his assets before the Election Commission of Pakistan. “I will quit politics if a single asset is proved as mine,” he said. Akram Durrani said that they would close highways and all districts. “We will start ‘Jail Bharo movement’ after Azadi March.” He said that no one could thinks of using force against such a huge crowd.

In a bid to defuse political tension in the country, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi called on Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday night. They tried to convince JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman who is in the federal capital to seek the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan to resolve the issues through talks. Talking to the media, Ch Pervaiz Elahi hoped that the matter would be resolved amicably as he had come for reconciliation. He said that the Dialogue Committee meeting would be held at PM House at 11am on Tuesday. He said that they inform the prime minister about the situation tomorrow.
