PM House to be converted into high level institute: Shafqat

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood announced on Thursday that Prime Minister’s House will be converted into the high level post-graduate institution. Addressing to the press conference, Shafqat Mehmood announced the incumbent government’s plans to turn the governmental official buildings as public use. Shafqat said that it has been decided that the PM House will be turned into a top-level educational instate. He said that Governor House in all provinces will be used as a museum and art gallery, while park on the premises will be opened for public. The minister said that The Punjab House in Murree will be turned into a five star hotel and the Government House in Murree will be transformed into a heritage boutique hotel, while the Punjab House in Murree would be turned into a tourist resort. The education minister announced that a Punjab House in Rawalpindi, the rest house, will either be converted into a higher education institute for IT/incubation centre, or the National College of Arts in Pindi will be shifted to this building. Mehmood said that former Punjab chief minister’s office, located at 90 Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam in Lahore will be transformed into a craft museum and a hall within it will be changed into a convention centre which will be rented out for events. The minister also announced that the Chanda House in Lahore will be turned into Governor Office as an alternative to Governor's House. “A state guest house situated on Mall Road will be converted into a five-star hotel,” the minister announced. Shafqat Mehmood further said that the decision related to the Awan-e-Sadar will be taken in the next session. The education minister also revealed that the annual expenditures of Governor’s Houses and other official buildings were Rs1 billion and 15 crore.
