ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has defended the decision to clamp smart lockdown across the country, saying that the coronavirus cases may increase again if precautions were not adopted. Talking to the media on Monday, he said that the country could face more losses if precautions not adopted. "The world cannot so far understand coronavirus," he said. The prime minister said that the government consider reopening of educational institutions after Eid and Muharram if the lockdown yielded good results. He urged the people to try to arrange online sacrifice. He said that the complete lockdown was not a right decision. "Pakistan cannot be compared with the western countries. The poor segment of the society was badly affected by the lockdown," he said. The prime minister said that 80 percent poor population was crushed in India. "We faced a lot of criticism when the construction sector was opened." He appealed to the masses to go to animals markets by wearing masks. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a meeting to review the situation of sugar and wheat in the country. During the meeting, the prime minister was briefed about the stock of sugar and wheat in the country. He was presented a report on action against profiteers. Meanwhile, the federal government has decided to launch a crackdown against the sugar mafia. On the basis of the Sugar Commission report, the FBR, the NAB, SECP and the FIA have been ordered to launch the investigations. Under instructions from the prime minister, the State Bank of Pakistan governor and three provinces have been written the letter in this regard.
