PM Imran Khan directs to pass on benefit of a cut in prices of POL products to masses

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to pass on the benefit of the reduction in the prices of POL products to the masses. He was presiding over a meeting on checking smuggling and prices of essential commodities on Thursday. He said that smuggling is a cancer for the country’s economy. “Smuggling threatens food security and causes irreparable loss to the industrial sector. No compromise will be made in action against smuggling,” he added. The prime minister directed all the departments concerned to submit a report about actions against smuggling and the people involved in smuggling fortnightly. Regarding the steps taken to reduce prices of essential commodities, he said that the government's objective to reduce prices of petroleum products was to provide relief to the people. During the meeting, the provincial governments gave a detailed briefing regarding reduction in the prices of daily-use items. Federal Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar briefed the meeting about a possible cut in the rates of steel and cooking oil.
