PM Imran Khan orders steps to stop water theft, reduce middleman's role in markets

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered steps to stop water theft and reduce the role of middleman in markets.

He was talking to a delegation of farmers at PM Office on Thursday. The prime minister stressed the need for resolving the problems of the farmers.

He directed that authorities to strictly implement the laws to deal with cartelization and hoarding methods. "The Rabi crop is likely to be affected by 28 percent shortage of water. Water shortage can be overcome by stopping the water theft," he maintained.

The prime minister said that an amount of Rs 277 billion had been allocated for the agriculture sector to increase the production capacity of wheat, sugarcane, rice, lintels and oil. "The government is providing Kissan cards to small farmers to make the agriculture sector modern," he added.

Federal Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam, Minister for Industries Khusru Bakhtiar and Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar were also present.
