PM Imran Khan says introducing best local bodies system in Punjab & KPK

KARACHI (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that they are introducing the best local bodies system in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Talking to journalists on Wednesday, he said that the problems cannot be resolved till direct elections for the mayor in Karachi and Lahore. “Sixty-five percent amount is given to provinces under the NFC Award. No country runs its budget through deficit. The telemetry system was deliberately not allowed to operate,” he said. The prime minister said that some matters will have to be reviewed in the 18th amendment. “The provinces were given the powers which could not be delegated to the grassroots level,” he said. He said that politics on coronavirus is a regrettable act. “Pakistan took the best steps with regard to coronavirus. Now it is responsibility of the masses to follow the SOPs,” he added. Imran Khan said that the government had protected the people from poverty due to its effective strategy against the corona pandemic. “We will have to fight with coronavirus and save the people from hunger as well. No country can tolerate long-term lockdown,” he added. He said that the government is utilizing all-out resources for elimination of locusts. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan also held meetings with allied parties delegations who gave proposals for administrative reforms and development funds in Sindh. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the federal government is extending all-out cooperation to all provinces, including the Sindh government. Later, the prime minister also visited Larkana, Ehsas Kafalat Centre and attended a ceremony at Insaf House.
