ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that goods transport will continue to run across the country. Talking to the media after presiding over a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on Friday, he said that the government would never allow profiteering. The prime minister said that the provision of food items will be ensured with the cooperation of the provinces. “There should be no shortage of food items. We should be ready for the outbreak of the epidemic. No one can predict the situation after two weeks,” he said. He said that the government will register the poor under the Ehsas Program. “We will fully utilize information technology.” PM Imran Khan also announced the establishment of Corona Charity Fund. “The people had proved to be a nation during the earthquake and flood calamity,” he added. He said that the Chinese government had provided food to the people at their homes. “We are forming a special force comprising of the youth, namely Corona Tiger Force, and aspirants can get themselves registered through PM Portal." Imran Khan said that no government alone can fight against this epidemic. “The impact of the pandemic will be minimum if we jointly fight against it,” he added. He said that it is not easy for Americans to fight against coronavirus. “America has allocated US$200 billion for the fight against epidemic. The total tax collection in the country is US$45 billion. It is a big crisis and the media should support the government in this cause,” he said.
Orders release of people arrested during lockdown
Prime Minister also ordered the release of people arrested during the lockdown clamped to contain coronavirus. “About 75 percent cases of coronavirus were imported. Students wanted to return to Pakistan from abroad, but we bore the pressure. Had students returned and their stay at Haji Camp would have made it another Taftan,” he maintained. Imran Khan said that China dealt with the situation effectively. “To the contrary, Iran pushed the devotees towards Pakistan,” he said. The federal ministers, chief ministers and military officers attended the meeting through the video link.
