ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has set an example by drawing a salary less than the ministers. According to information, the PM is getting Rs 197,000 as salary while the ministers’ salary is up to Rs 250,000. Moreover, the prime minister has neither a camp office nor government expenditures are spent on his personal residence. The prime minister pays for the security at Bani Gala. In November last year, the government had auctioning off about 100 government-owned vehicles as part of new Prime Minister Imran Khan's cost-cutting drive. Auction official Mohammad Asif told Reuters the vehicles could bring in about Rs 2 billion rupees ($16 million) to the cash-strapped government’s coffers, although that estimate depends on finding buyers for four bullet-proof Mercedes. These are estimated in total value at Rs 1 billion. The auction was as part of Khan's drive to give “the nation’s wealth to its rightful owners”, though critics say most of the new government’s cost-cutting measures are more symbolism than significant savings. The Pakistan government also auctioned eight buffaloes kept by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Cash-starved Pakistan government led by Khan has launched an austerity drive. Under this, more than 80 luxury cars would be auctioned.
