ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan presided a meeting of the federal cabinet on Tuesday. The agenda includes the issue of bifurcating the Power Division and Petroleum Division. The cabinet endorsed the agreement of technical cooperation between Pakistan and Brazil. It discussed to approve the agreements inked with different countries. The federal cabinet briefed about the education system in the country. It approved the agreement between the Ministry of Pakistanis and Saudi Arabia regarding recruitment of labourers in Saudi Arabia. It approved an MoU between Pakistan and Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture, transfer/postings in the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment. It will also approve the additional charge for the posting of Export Processing Zones Authority.
Federal cabinet postpones hike in price of petroleum products
On April 30, the federal cabinet meeting – under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan – postponed the decision to hike the prices of petroleum products on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference along with Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said the cabinet also discussed OGRA's recommendation to increase the prices of petroleum products by 14 rupees per litre. “Prime minister directed to send this recommendation to ECC to review it in order to pass minimum burden to the people,” she informed.
Cabinet decides to hold audit of 1300 billion rupees circular debt
Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the cabinet also decided to hold audit of the 1300 billion rupees circular debt in order to determine who is responsible for this increase, and the facts will be presented in next cabinet meeting. She also said the previous Punjab government left a debt of 100 billion rupees, besides the bounced cheques of 80 billion rupees, adding that due to good governance and austerity measures taken by the incumbent government, a saving of 100 billion rupees has been made at the federal level.
