PM Nawaz says army playing vital role in operation Zarb-e Azb; criticism unjustified

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said Pakistan Army is playing a vital role in fight against terrorism and any criticism in the prevailing situation is unjustified as it is engaged in efforts to bring peace in the country. Speaking while chairing chairing a consultative meeting, the Premier said stressed the need for national consensus in the critical phase of the ongoing operation against terrorism. "The country can only lead towards development and prosperity through political stability and building national consensus on major issues," he said. "The officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army are playing vital role in the implementation of National Action Plan and they enjoy complete support of the nation." Also, Nawaz Sharif said criticism on Pakistan Army will encourage those elements who are out to destabilize Pakistan and create hurdles in the process of progress and development of the country. "He said in the prevailing situation, criticizing the Army is unjustified as it is engaged in efforts to bring peace in the society," he said. "Coordination and harmony between the army and political leadership has strengthened democracy in the country." Yesterday, PPP co-chairperson and former president lashed out at against what he called “the character assassination of his party” and warned the military leadership that if they did not stop, he would "expose the misdeeds of many generals".
