PM Nawaz Sharif cancelled meeting with Asif Zardari after talking to COAS on phone

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cancelled a meeting with former president Asif Zaradi after a telephonic conversation with the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif in Russia on Thursday. According to sources, the Army Chief and prime minister discussed ongoing political situation in the country. Nawaz Sharif said criticising the armed forces at a time like this was unacceptable. The prime minister said the country was in a state of war, with the Army offering sacrifices during the Operation Zarb-e-Azb. Sources said that Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar informed the prime minister about the Army’s reservations regarding the speech of PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari. COAS Gen Raheel Sharif will meet Nawaz Sharif after his arrival from Russia. They will discuss the political situation in the country. “Important decisions will also be taken regarding the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi,” sources said. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit the General Headquarters to express solidarity with the armed forces. The prime minister decided to visit the GHQ after the speech of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari against armed forces. Several important politicians suggested the prime minister to visit GHQ. He will visit the GHQ on the arrival of Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif from Russia. Nawaz Sharif will also visit the graves of martyred soldiers.
