PM Nawaz to address National Assembly tomorrow
May 15, 2016
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will tomorrow (Monday) address the National Assembly on the Panama Papers leak that linked his family to offshore companies. The opposition parties had boycotted the national assembly proceedings saying they will not return to the house as long as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif does not come in the house to respond to their queries on Panama papers. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid had assured that the prime minister will attend the session on Friday and answer all questions to be raised by them about Panama papers but he couldn’t appear. Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had categorically said that the opposition cannot question him. Talking to the media after returning to Pakistan from Tajikistan on Thursday, he said that the opposition’s agenda was not accountability, but it wanted to follow him. On the other hand, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali had on Friday rejected the government’s request to form a judicial commission to probe into Panama Leaks until resolution of the terms of reference (ToRs) issue. CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali had written a letter to the Law Ministry in this regard saying that the judicial commission cannot be formed until the issue of the TORs is worked out.
